Material care
Help good objects age well
Simple habits for caring for wood, ceramic, linen, metal, and other everyday materials.
Care by material
A little attention goes a long way
Product-specific instructions always take priority over these general care suggestions.
Wood
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry promptly. Avoid soaking, dishwashers, and long exposure to direct heat. Use a food-safe oil only when recommended for the product.
Ceramic
Follow the product's dishwasher and microwave guidance. Avoid sudden temperature changes and stack delicate pieces with care.
Linen
Wash gently with mild detergent, avoid optical brighteners, and air dry when possible. Natural wrinkles and softening are part of linen's character.
Metal
Clean with a non-abrasive cloth, dry after washing, and avoid harsh chemicals. Some finishes naturally develop a patina.
